Trump’s acceptance speech failed to broaden his support
He vowed to “protect our LGBTQ citizens”, minutes after saying “We can not afford to be so politically correct anymore”. Much of Ivanka Trump’s introduction sounded like it was straight out of a Hillary Clinton speech on women, family, and workplace issues.

While Trump in past months has proposed a temporary ban on Muslims entering the United States, he said Thursday the suspension would apply only to immigrants “from any nation that has been compromised by terrorism”.
However, Trump is at a potential tactical disadvantage because he’s now committed to a strategy, whereas Democrats get to make the next move at their convention next week. But what Republicans in Cleveland expressed was confidence that Trump will actually deliver for them in a way that other Republicans have not.
He continued: “Let’s review the record”. I wouldn’t say we are just angry people.
NY businessman Mr Trump, 70, will hope to allay party tensions and rally both Republican leaders and the millions of Americans tuning in for the address.
Trump said he will overhaul tax laws and energy rules, get rid of regulations and decrease taxes, while offering few specifics. Ever the showman, he fed off the energy of the crowd, stepping back to soak in applause and joining the delegates as they chanted, “U-S-A”. “Again I think reaching out to the gay community, and he covered all of them right down to the que”.
And as in previous rallies, Trump had to pause at one point as a protester heckled him and had to be removed by security.
He said: “Our convention occurs at a moment of crisis for our nation”.
“Ivanka Trump’s sophisticated sheath dress works wonders at both social and professional occasions with sleek studwork and a fabulous fit”, the store’s website said describing the dress, which quickly sold out.
By the time the balloons came cascading down to the tune of “All Right Now” by the English rock band Free, and Speaker of the House Paul Ryan took the stage to officially christen Trump as the party’s nominee, most of the arena was empty.
“Other than a small group of people who have suffered massive and embarrassing losses, the party is VERY united”, Trump said.
On the bright side, this was such an angry, divisive speech that it’s hard to imagine it appealing to anyone who is not a Republican. Famously self-centered, another US senator once said that “if you killed Ted Cruz on the floor of the Senate, and the trial was in the Senate, nobody would convict you”. It would make a more vigorous defense of Obama’s accomplishments and of the condition of the country overall, instead of buying into Trump’s premise that things were going badly.
Republicans who have questioned Trump’s grasp of foreign policy reacted with indignation. Sen.
But Trump’s nomination speech, like every Trump speech, was completely devoid of solutions to the many, many problems Trump said was wrong with America.
His speech marks the final address at the end of the four day convention in Cleveland.
Trump will be introduced by his daughter Ivanka Trump who has been an important behind-the-scenes adviser.
Texas Senator Mr Cruz caused a storm on Wednesday night and later defended his decision, saying he would not be a “servile puppy” to someone who had attacked his wife and father.
Ivanka, who has worked alongside her father for more than 10 years, said he is “color blind and gender neutral” when it comes to his businesses. When GOP leaders blocked that effort, the anti-Trump delegates staged a noisy protest on the floor.
“I always heard he didn’t have that many friends in Washington D.C. He certainly didn’t have that many friends in this room last night”, Trump’s son Eric told NBC’s Today show. “They’re so honest. They’re such honorable people”.
