Signing Di Maria a game changer for PSG: Zidane

If it’s proven Di Maria has gone absent without leave, it could be more an indication of his character, not United’s.

“Manchester United and PSG are two big clubs and negotiations can be hard, but we are close to the end”.

Manchester United signed Angel Di Maria last summer for British record worth £59.7 million from Real Madrid where the 27-year-old scored 22 goals in 124 appearances.

Real want to sign the 25-year-old but United’s stance is De Gea can not depart unless Sergio Ramos moves to Old Trafford as part of any deal.

It all means Di Maria won’t be handed an easy passage out of Old Trafford, but we understand United are confident their demands will be met, and the transfer will get the green light next week.

After United’s 2-0 defeat to PSG in Chicago on Thursday, Laurent Blanc said both clubs were “close” to striking a deal for the former Benfica player. He is a great friend, a great player, and every single team he plays in, he makes the difference. “The right central position I have to consider”, said the United boss, in quotes published by the Mirror.

Then, in February, Di Maria moved out of his Cheshire home after an attempted burglary at the property.

However, Sky sources also understand United are actively pursuing a replacement for Di Maria and Van Gaal could yet add further to his attacking options with Barcelona forward Pedro among the players he is monitoring. Blind’s competition Marcos Rojo is hardly an assured centre-half so United need to invest in that area to improve their chances of a successful season.

Di Maria is expected to undergo tests at the Aspire Academy on Monday.

– maybe someone will come in before the start of the season”. “I don’t want to answer that but you can keep asking”, said the Dutchman.
