Donald Trump wars with Fox News and Megyn Kelly

The feisty tone of the party’s first presidential debate suited Trump, a flamboyant billionaire who has been the centre of campaign attention for weeks for his personal attacks on rivals and his scathing comments about Senator John McCain’s war record and about Mexican immigrants. Kelly asked him if this was befitting a man vying to be the US president. Trump was disinvited to speak from the Red State Gathering after telling CNN’s Don Lemon that Kelly was unfair to him and “off base”. You once told a contestant on Celebrity Apprentice it would be a pretty picture to see her on her knees. Trump was to have spoken at it. Ted Cruz declined to criticize Trump on Saturday.

Pressed by Chris Wallace about his four bankruptcies, Trump was unapologetic about using the laws to build $10 billion in wealth.

“Wow, @megynkelly really bombed tonight”.

“I think Donald Trump is going to be an independent and spoil a lot of the races”. “He’s leading 15, other experienced applications, why?” We lose to Mexico both in trade and at the border. He was a breath of fresh air.

The other presidential candidates, meanwhile, were only too happy to try to take political advantage of the controversy.

Although Trump is fighting for the Republican’s nomination he has not ruled out standing as an independent candidate.

At the start of the debate, Kelly’s co-host Brett Baier asked which of the candidates would not support the eventual Republican nominee or run as a third-party spoiler. Bush said Trump ought to apologize for the pejorative comments he made about Fox News personality Megyn Kelly.

Former Hewlett-Packard Chief Executive Officer Carly Fiorina, the only woman in the Republican field, directed a tweet at Trump, saying, “Mr. Trump: There. Is”.

“It’s kind of amusing but I think he’s more of an entertainer than a politician”. “We have to all get back to work and stop wasting time and energy on nonsense!” “However, that is not without its downsides, in particular, when it comes to women”, Fox News personality and moderator Megyn Kelly said.

According to Nielsen, about 24 million people watched the Fox News event – which was the first debate among the Republican frontrunners. “I don’t frankly have time for total political correctness”, Trump said during the debate.
