The ride will be available from summer 2017, and will feature characters from 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy.

Kurt Russell stoked fan adulation when he appeared at Comic-Con on Saturday to stump for “Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2”, revealing that he would play Chris Pratt’s dad, “Ego”, in the Marvel sequel that is set to open next year.

Riders on the Mavel Comics-themed attraction will join forces with super hero Rocket Raccoon as they navigate through a fortress with creatures from the universe and attempt to free the other guardian heroes from the Collector. “Now he has imprisoned the Guardians of the Galaxy and they’re hanging in display cases over a giant abyss”, Joe Rohde, Walt Disney Imagineering portfolio creative director, said in a statement.

The attraction will take over the The Twilight Zone Tower Of Terror, which is scheduled to close in early 2017.

Mission: Breakout will take over the spot in Disney California Adventure Park now held by The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, which will close in early January. Guests will experience multiple random, unique ride profiles in which the rise and fall of the gantry lift will rock to the beat of music inspired by the film’s popular soundtrack.
