The arrests as Turkey’s Interior Ministry was charged with overseeing all future appoints and promotions of the country’s internal security force instead of the military.
Turkey has imposed a three-month state of emergency and detained or dismissed tens of thousands of people in the military, judiciary and education systems, and other institutions.
Kerry warned that Turkey could endanger their relationship and its North Atlantic Treaty Organisation membership if it does not respect “the rule of law” in the attempted coup’s fallout.
He said the Turkish people demand death penalty and that demand will surely be assessed.
“Some European colleagues think this is a Pokemon game, this coup attempt”, said Omer Celik Turkey’s minister for EU affairs. In Turkey it is the government, rather than the United Nations refugee agency that manages the estimated 2.7 refugees in the country.
President Barack Obama on Friday denied any USA role in Turkey’s failed coup and insisted that an extradition request for a US-based Muslim cleric accused of orchestrating the putsch would have to go through normal channels.
According to the authorities, 10,410 people have been detained – mainly soldiers, including 283 Presidential Guard officers, but also police, judges and civil servants.
He entered Turkey two days before the military coup attempt last week, the source said. Gulen became Erdogan’s bête noire after his supporters allegedly recorded and leaked incriminating conversations involving Erdogan, his relatives and other top officials in 2013 and 2014.
Friday, CHP organizers invited Erdogan’s AKP supporters to the rally and they agreed.
“America’s governed by rules of law, and those are not ones that the president of the United States or anybody else can just set aside for the sake of expediency”, Obama said. The United States has said Turkey, a North Atlantic Treaty Organisation ally, needs to provide clear evidence of Gulen’s involvement in the coup before it can extradite him.
President Erdoğan will supervise a meeting with Turkey’s Supreme Military Council (YAS) earlier than expected in July, indicating the Turkish President is planning more measures to increase his power over the military, Reuters reports.
“They are all working together as to what might be done, and. within a very short amount of time a new structure will be emerging”. Erdogan has admitted there were intelligence failures in the lead up to the putsch.

In his decree, published by the Anadolu state news agency, Erdogan also extended to a maximum of 30 days from four days the period in which some suspects can be detained. “I call on investors to continue investing as the public will move forward with major projects”.
