While the Game Drive for Xbox is the company’s first product for the Xbox One, it seems that it intends to continue the relationship, especially if the drive sells well.

From Loftis’ words it looks like the Xbox Game Preview platform isn’t just another money-making scheme to turn out unfinished games that might end up in limbo. “No question”.

“I can’t make any announcements about first-party games we’re going to put in Preview but typically at this point, given the way games development’s going, and the complexity of the systems, it is very important to us the consumer goes along with us the whole way”, she added.

“With all of the new and incredible titles expected for this holiday season and a ton more games coming in the future, Xbox gamers will need even more storage and portability”, Microsoft’s Matt Kesselring said in the press release announcing the new drive. Loftis said as much, adding that this will be one way to “extend the beta experience and also support development a little in the process”.

“We are curating that program very much with an eye for making sure that the games are high-quality games. Our fans absolutely love it, there’s been a huge amount of uptake in the service itself”. Though, the internal storage gets filled very quickly if you’re an avid game and install a few heavy duty games. The Game Drive works with both Xbox One and Xbox 360 gaming consoles. We have a lot of different ways of engaging with developers. Xbox Game Preview will undoubtedly be compared to its PC counterpart, meaning Microsoft will have to take larger steps to avoid these known issues. Indie devs everywhere are eager to have their games featured on one of the first major wide-scale early access programs for games consoles.
