He said India’s attempts to suppress the voice of Kashmiris is a clear manifestation of state-terrorism when in reality the Kashmir issue is recognised under the United Nations, and Pakistan has made a decision to approach the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) to investigate the human rights violations and the recent wave of violence against the civilians in the India-held Kashmir by Indian forces.

Over 40 people have died in clashes between protesting mobs and security forces in the Valley since July 8.

The home minister said that all political parties have tried to work for the resolution of the Kashmir problem.

Pakistan categorically rejected an Indian claim that Kashmir was an integral part of India.

Demanding Pakistan to vacate its illegal occupation of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir, the MEA said, “The observance of “Kashmir’s Accession to Pakistan Day” exposes Pak’s longing for the territory of Jammu and Kashmir”.

In a statement, Sharif said “Kashmir can not be accepted as an internal matter of India” as the United Nations has already declared it a disputed area.

India lashed out at Pakistan for “inciting and supporting” terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir and instead asked it to vacate its illegal occupation of Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (POK).

On the demands of an all-party delegation to be sent to Kashmir, the Home Minister said: “I have spoken to Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, who said it could be discussed when she comes to Delhi in the next 2-3 days as the situation there was returning to normal”.

India also asked Pakistan to ensure the safety and security of the Indian high commission and its officials in the country in view of the threat of marches and protests at the mission.

He said that there were some positive indications in the reaction of global organisations, adding that the United Nations secretary-general, OIC secretary-general, Human Rights Commission, the USA secretary of state, China, Turkey, Amnesty worldwide and Human Rights Watch had expressed grave concerns over the recent unfolding of unfortunate events in Kashmir. Addressing a public gathering in Muzaffarabad, Sharif said, “We are waiting for the day Kashmir becomes (part of) Pakistan”. He also urged the worldwide community, particularly the P-5, to fulfil their commitments towards the people of Jammu & Kashmir under the UN Security Council resolutions.

“It’s a disappointing statement because when there was a tragic terrorist attack in Pakistan on the Army School in Peshawar and people were killed, our country unanimously condemned the attackers and extended solidarity to the Pakistani people”, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor told ANI. “It is being reported that around 400 injured are in critical condition and more than 70 of the injured may have become permanently blind”, Aziz said in comments made available by the Pakistan high commission in New Delhi.
