Sale scratched from start over throwback flop has baseball in a frenzy
The White Sox released a statement on Twitter before the game against their division rivals, noting he was “sent home” because of a “clubhouse incident” that “is under further investigation”. The performance marked the first time since May 15 that he gave up more than one earned run but he didn’t allow a homer for the eighth time in nine starts.

Ken Rosenthal, an MLB reporter for FOX and an MLB Network insider, tweeted that Sale was unhappy with the 1976 throwback uniforms the team was supposed to wear, saying they were uncomfortable.
According to Tommy Stokke of FanRag Sports, Sale “cut the jerseys up so no one could wear them”. Because of the strength of the Ranger’s farm system, they may just be a ideal trade partner for the Chicago White Sox who are more than likely preparing to rebuild. Albers and the White Sox took the field in their 1980s throwbacks instead.
Over the weekend, the Chicago White Sox promoted their 1906 throwbacks that they planned on wearing in their series against the Tigers.
The crowd booed when Albers was announced as the starter while the teams warmed up.
Sale has had run-ins with the White Sox front office in the past, and sources around the team say his relationship is strained with executive vice president Kenny Williams and some members of the front office. The left-hander is now 8-8 with a 3.13 ERA through 19 starts and he has struck out 112 batters in 123.2 innings on the mound. LaRoche retired as a result, and Sale hung LaRoche’s jersey in his locker. The 22-year-old Sierra played for Avispas de Santiago from 2012-14 in Cuba’s Serie Nacional.
Rumors swirled on social media pregame that Sale had been traded or was scratched with an illness, both of which turned out to be incorrect.
In building off his last start – the best of his major league career – Boyd was solid but didn’t stick around long.
Turner is getting another opportunity despite allowing eight runs and seven hits in four innings in a loss to the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday in his White Sox debut.
However, after a weird incident involving sale prior to Saturday’s game, the White Sox ace could be on the move and the Texas Rangers could be a likely candidate. He was set to pitch on Saturday night for the Chicago White Sox in their meeting with the Detroit Tigers.
“I don’t foresee us adding another starting pitcher or reliever at this point”, Avila said.
Another tough night for David Price last night against the Twins at least can’t lessen the team’s desire to go out and get another rotation piece.

Hahn said Thursday the White Sox were “mired in mediocrity” and hinted at possible big roster changes.
