Attorney: Resolution in Green case could come after Olympics

Draymond Green’s misdemeanor assault or misdemeanor assault and battery charge moved one step closer to resolution during a closed-door pre-trial conference in 54B District Court (East Lansing) today. Police say they witnessed the incident. Edmondson was not seriously injured. The case is scheduled to go to court on Thursday. The U.S. team starts play in Rio on August 6.

Green was arrested at the scene and led away from the area in handcuffs. Charge would become a civil infraction.

National Basketball Association star Draymond Green has reached a plea agreement that will allow him to avoid jail time and reduce the charges he faced for allegedly slapping a Michigan State University football player to a noise violation, officials announced Friday.

“I signed up for this, whether it was blown out of proportion or not”, Green said.

News of the plea agreement comes on the same day USA Basketball is scheduled to begin its exhibition slate leading up to the Olympics. Especially not when the alleged victim, Jermaine Edmondson, claims he and his girlfriend were choked by Green and his entourage. He was suspended for game 5 of the NBA Finals for kicking LeBron James during game 4.

While Green doesn’t have a signature sneakers, he often laced up this past season in player’s edition Nike Zoom HyperRevs with “D23” branding.
