According to the New York Times, both showed up almost an hour late to an afternoon rally at Florida International University in Miami. For the second straight day, Clinton’s line about we are better than what Trump is offering drew chants of U-S-A from the crowd.

Clinton announced her choice of Kaine, a former Richmond mayor and Virginia governor, as her running mate for vice president on Friday.

“This is one of the most consequential elections in our lifetimes”, Clinton said.

He went straight at Trump, the billionaire businessman who is the GOP’s new presidential nominee.

Kaine criticized Trump’s recent suggestion he might not honor USA security commitments to North Atlantic Treaty Organisation in Europe, and the real estate mogul’s history of casino bankruptcies and founding the failed Trump University. John McCain’s time as a prisoner of war.

“Senator Tim Kaine is everything Donald Trump and Mike Pence are not”, Ms Clinton said to cheers introducing Mr Kaine, describing him as a “leader who cares more about making a difference than making headlines”. Kaine asked in Annandale, Virginia, as Clinton nodded.

Kaine took the podium after Clinton, welcoming everyone at the rally in Spanish.

Democratic party VP pick, Sen.

“He is qualified to step into this job and lead from Day One”.

“We trust Secretary Clinton would not select Senator Kaine, and Senator Kaine would not accept the position, if he could not fully support Secretary Clinton’s robust agenda when it comes to preserving and expanding reproductive freedom and justice”.

Some progressives reacted critically, while Sanders has remained silent, a response that may be telling. CBS will have primetime coverage of the Democratic Convention starting at 9pm Monday through Thursday.

Kaine and Clinton are accepted to accept their party’s nominations at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia next week.

The enthusiastic running mate continued: “Hillary Clinton. doesn’t insult people, she listens to them”.

“It’s a good pick”. “Kaine doesn’t have many vulnerabilities or weaknesses”. He’s a free trade supporter who backs TPP when Donald Trump has called for protectionism.

Trump added: “Tim Kaine has been praising the Trans Pacific Partnership and has been pushing hard to get it approved”. Neither Clinton nor Kaine mentioned trade during their remarks.

At a rally in Miami, Florida, the former USA secretary of state reeled off a list of Mr Kaine’s career achievements. Virginia is a swing state, and his influence could be helpful there in a close election.

Kaine, who speaks fluent Spanish, said the two were “compañeros de alma in this great lucha ahead” – “soul mates in this great fight ahead”. Hours after Trump emerged as the presumptive Republican nominee in May, Warren tweeted that Trump “built his campaign on racism, sexism, and xenophobia”.

Trump offered his thoughts on Kaine via Twitter, saying: “Tim Kaine is, and always has been, owned by the banks”. “For certain people who are within the establishment part of the Democratic Party, they love it; for those people who are outside the Democratic Party who were brought in by Bernie Sanders, probably not so much”.

“The mood of the country is a populist one”, said Stephanie Taylor, co-founder of the Progressive Change Campaign Committee in reacting to the selection. Republicans are in even more trouble than they were last week.

Clinton and Kaine are being greeted by cheers from a boisterous Miami crowd in the crucial battleground state of Florida. Many who want to do away with superdelegates backed Bernie Sanders.

“It makes me wonder, is she really going to follow through with all those progressive platforms and things she’s claiming she’s going to get passed through?” pondered Asami Kobayashi also of Honolulu.

But unlike the famous real estate mogul on the other side of the political aisle, Kaine argued, his heart was in the right place.

Clinton will crush Trump.
