And, of course, at the end of the show Miranda, Odom and Soo, led the company in a final curtain call to an nearly immediate standing ovation.
On Twitter, he shared a black-and-white photo of his severed locks, along with the caption, “Teach ’em how to say goodbye…”.
The Tony award-winning actor and writer also posted a photo of his ponytail, which he had cut off immediately after his last performance as Alexander Hamilton. Javier Munoz, Miranda’s alternate since the show debuted Off-Broadway a year ago, will take over the role. And when Miranda walked out on the stage of the Richard Rogers theater and sang “My name is Alexander Hamilton”.
The “Hamilton” cast takes a bow during their final performance with Lin-Manuel Miranda. On Tuesday, we showed you a preview, but now the entire song has been released. He had tweeted, “Okay see you on the marquee”. Odom Jr. will focus on his career as a singer and Soo will take part in another musical.
Closer to curtain, a rush of celebrities arrived, including Spike Lee, Rosie O’Donnell, Jane Fonda and Jennifer Lopez, who was met by the screams of onlookers.
Post-“Hamilton”, Miranda is set to star opposite Emily Blunt in “Mary Poppins Returns”, and has been contributing music to Disney’s “Moana”.
