Trump Campaign: Bernie Sanders’ Endorsement ‘Exhibit A in our Rigged System’

Five weeks after Clinton clinched the Democratic presidential nomination, the U.S. senator from Vermont ended his upstart campaign and joined her at a rally in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, to put their bitter primary battle behind them. On more than one occasion, Sanders questioned Clinton’s judgment. He’s a fan of the proposed Democratic platform, but sees it as a compromise.

Sanders bestowed his long-awaited support before a boisterous New Hampshire crowd, declaring he wanted to make it “as clear as possible as to why I am endorsing Hillary Clinton”.

“To everyone here and everyone across the country who poured your heart and soul into Senator Sanders’ campaign, thank you”, she said. “And there is no doubt in my mind that, as we head into November, Hillary Clinton is far and away the best candidate to do that”. Spokesman Michael Briggs said Sanders still supports holding a roll call vote at the convention to determine the nomination. At the end of Clinton’s remarks, the two shared a hug and smiled. Only about 40 percent of Sanders’ supporters say they would vote for her, according to recent Reuters/Ipsos polling.

His usual lines about minimum wage increases, rebuilding infrastructure, affordable college education, healthcare reform and increased environmental protection were simply prefaced by “Hillary Clinton understands” and “Hillary Clinton knows”.

Tuesday’s announcement brings unity to the Democrats against Trump’s tumultuous campaign to become presumptive nominee of the Republicans.

Speaking in front of some of his most passionate supporters – having won the New Hampshire primary in February – Mr. Sanders announced that Ms. Clinton “must become our next president”.

Stoddard said a Clinton-Trump ballot has her looking beyond red and blue.

“You should know that in the weeks since the last primary, both campaigns have worked together in good faith to bridge some of the policy issues that divided us during the election”. We build bridges, not walls.

Eventually, Clinton took the stage and said, “We are joining forces to defeat Donald Trump!”. She will be the Democratic nominee for president. And as she helped lead the fight to universal health care.

“I think Bernie sanders started a certain revolution that needs to keep going and unfortunately that won’t happen with Hillary”, Sandoval added. That’s what this campaign has been about.

“Those that have gone from “feeling the Bern” to feeling just plain burned will have two choices”, Goldford said.
