Police in Pakistan have arrested the brother of murdered Pakistani social media media celebrity, Qandeel Baloch, from Dera Ghazi Khan on late Saturday night.
Meanwhile, a duty magistrate in Multan remanded her brother and confessed killer, Waseem, in police custody for three days. Despite Qandeel being a “family breadwinner” Azeem found her actions “unbearable” and even says if he didn’t kill her he was considering committing suicide to end the embarrassment he was feeling on behalf of his entire family.
“Qandeel Baloch has been killed, she was strangled to death by her bother”. “He escaped after strangling Qandeel”.
Her controversial pictures recently led to the suspension of Mufti Qawi’s membership from the Ruet-e-Hilal committee, a top religious body. Police confirmed that Waseem escaped to Dera Ghazi Khan after killing Qandeel in the Karimabad area of Multan on July 17.
Ms Baloch’s parents lodged a report with police accusing her brother of killing her, and another brother of being complicit, according to Dawn.
“Wasim confessed to his crime, saying he killed his sister for honour after her recent objectionable videos, mostly posted on Facebook”.
Earlier, TV channels reported that Qandeel, who became famous through her tireless self-promotion and suggestive “selfies” posted on social media, was shot by her brother.

The killing was condemned by the residents of her village. She had over 123,000 followers on Instagram and her brothers demanded that she stop her usage, but she refused to do so.
