Paul Scholes claims Juventus’ Paul Pogba left Red Devils for money

Scholes is a fan of Pogba’s abilities but feels such a hefty price tag would suggest he is at the same level as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, and he does not believe the France worldwide can be considered as good as the Barcelona and Real Madrid stars just yet.

Former Manchester United player Paul Scholes has questioned whether the club should pay a world-record fee for Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba, saying the 23-year-old is not in the same bracket as the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

“He was a very talented young player, I played with him and I knew how good he was”, he said. “If you think that Mario makes me despair you are mistaken because his life has improved a lot and now he only needs to find the right moment”.

Manchester United have been in talks with Juventus for Pogba, and are expected to reach an agreement over a fee worth €120m, which would be a new world record.

L’Equipe and Gianluca Di Marzio among other outlets report that the record-breaking return of Paul Pogba to Manchester United is only a matter of time.

Scholes went on to mention that although the Frenchman has achieved great things in his career already, he needs a lot of improvement to be worth the amount United is paying.

“I want the best for my players and therefore also for Pogba”.

“I said in the first press conference at Old Trafford that our market has a fundamental part, and that part is four players – one central defender, one midfielder, one striker and one creative player”.

“Pogba is now a Juve player, but the market is still open”, Allegri told the press. “I listen to what is proposed to me and then I decide together with my players”.
