“Through internationally acclaimed art, Raza spread fragrance of our culture in every part of globe”.
Raza was born in 1922 in Babaria in Mandala district of Madhya Pradesh and as per his wishes, the last rites will be conducted in the district.
Raza’s Sir works are mainly abstracts in oil or acrylic, with a very rich use of color, replete with icons from Indian cosmology as well as its philosophy. He was honored the Padma Shri and Fellowship of the Lalit Kala Akademi in 1981, Padma Bhushan in 2007, and Padma Vibhushan in 2013.
He became one of India’s priciest modern artists in June 2010 when his seminal work, “Saurashtra” was sold for Rs 16.42 crore at a Christie’s auction.
