Warriors’ Draymond Green avoids jail in slapping incident
The former Michigan State star was accused of a hitting former Spartans football player Jermaine Edmondson in the face outside Conrad’s Grill on July 10, although Green’s lawyer, James Heos, has claimed that Green was defending himself.

David Meyers, an attorney for the city, says the noise violation is not a criminal charge so no guilty plea is required.
Green agreed to a plea deal in which he would pay for a noise complaint, a whopping $560, and the rest of the charges against him would be dropped. School officials previously said his departure was not related to the incident with Green. “We simply treated Mr. Green no differently than any other defendant that we prosecute”. If he contacts Edmondson within that time frame or is convicted of a new criminal charge within one year, Meyers said, the original charge would be reinstated. Police say they witnessed the incident. Regardless of what he avoided, the Warriors forward says he has learned his lesson and is ready to move forward as Team USA gears up for four more exhibition games before heading to Rio next month for the summer Olympic games.

Edmondson is no longer part of Michigan State’s football program. He missed Game 5 of the Finals for an accumulation of flagrant fouls throughout the postseason.
