Body found as ‘horrific’ wildfire burns near Los Angeles
A fast-moving wildfire, which has so far burned 20,000 acres, has forced hundreds of people to flee their homes near Los Angeles.

The blaze 5 miles south of Garrapata State Park posed a threat to about 1,000 homes and the community of Palo Colorado was ordered evacuated, Cal Fire said.
Fire officials say some buildings have burned, but it’s not clear whether they were homes, garages or outbuildings. Tripp said the Los Angeles fire chief was ready to join the incident command, and 15 strike teams were put on alert in case flames made a push in that direction.

“We are aware that there are structures that have been destroyed or damaged in the Bear Divide and Sand Canyon areas; however, we can not confirm any particular properties”, U.S. Forest Service officials said in a written statement.

The blaze, which has been dubbed the “Sand Fire” after a nearby neighbourhood, is only 10 per cent contained, according to the National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG).
