Liverpool. July 23: English Premier League giants Liverpool FC have signed Dutch midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum from Newcastle United on a long-term deal.

“He went from Rotterdam to Feyenoord to Eindhoven”.

“He can bring a few things into the team that we didn’t have before”.

According to the Liverpool Echo’s James Pearce, Klopp set 11 players against 18-year-old goalkeeper Shamal George at one stage of training, looking to improve his side’s counter-attacking play.

“I know him really well and played alongside him at the 2014 World Cup”. That’s what he brings. “He passes and then he goes, making himself an option a second later – he’s a complete footballer who is nice to have”. He said: “I am so happy that we have got him and he can join us now in the USA”.

“I am going to have to say United (will win the league)”.

“I’m really excited because Liverpool is a big club with a great history and it’s always a dream to play for as big a club as Liverpool”, declared the Reds latest signing.

‘This was only my first day back but we are getting to know each other, we speak a lot. You will see when you talk to him here. There’s no doubt. He’s 25 with a special story of life and a clear mind.

Recall that Tottenham and Everton were also tracking Wijnaldum this summer.

Given he’ll probably need him for Liverpool’s pre-season matches, Klopp chose not to follow through with his threat.

Rafael Benitez was keen to hold on to the midfielder as he looks to bring the St James’ Park outfit back to the top-flight at the first time of asking, but the former Eredivisie victor was keen to move away and play at a higher level. He’s said: “‘okay, this is the right moment in my career, I want to go there and create something special”.

Newcastle fans will be amused to hear Wijnaldum declare ‘Supporters appreciate it when you’re trying to work hard for the team.’, an interesting comment considering how anonymous the midfielder was in so many games last season, plus not scoring a single goal away from home.
