Oliver Stone: Pokémon Go Could Lead to Totalitarianism
“Google has invested in what surveillance is, data mining, which is about what you’re watching, what you’re buying, and Pokemon GO taps into that”, Stone said.

Director/writer Oliver Stone, from left, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Shailene Woodley and Zachary Quinto attend the “Snowden” panel on day 1 of Comic-Con International on Thursday, July 21, 2016, in San Diego.
Director Oliver Stone says every major movie studio turned down his narrative film about Edward Snowden because of censorship from their corporate leaders.
Three-time Oscar victor Mr Stone, 69, said Pokemon Go “kicks into” the surveillance culture and was ‘everywhere’.
Time quoted the director saying, “The profits are enormous here for places like Google”.
After Snowden chuckled that “I’m not an actor.” he did call Gordon-Levitt and Woodley (who plays Snowden’s girlfriend Lindsay Mills) “champions for the public good” in reaching a new audience and getting people to talk about important political issues. It’s the newest stage.
He added: “You’ll see a new form of, frankly, a robot society”.
When things will be up and running, Edward Snowden and Huang plan to work with manufacturers in China to make a final production model that would be both open-source and open-hardware. “It’s what you call totalitarianism”. A United Kingdom release date has yet to be confirmed.
Stone said he believes Snowden is still “a mystery” despite many interviews, articles and the Oscar-winning documentary “Citizenfour” exploring the former NSA contractor who leaked thousands of classified documents about the government’s surveillance programs. The device, dubbed “introspection engine”, would be a plastic case created to slide over an Apple iPhone 6, and will monitor the phone’s internal antennas to detect incoming and outgoing signals from the cellular, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or Global Positioning System chips, alerting users of any snooping attempt.

The device will appear similar to an external battery case, and will support a small mono-color screen that will flash an alert when a transmission gets detected.
