“Secretary Clinton has won the Democratic nominating process, and I congratulate her for that”, Sanders said at a Clinton rally in Portsmouth, N.H. Tuesday morning.

Bernie Sanders formally endorsed presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton on Tuesday, ending a contentious primary season. His endorsement could help bring some of those supporters into the fold for Clinton as she faces Republican Donald Trump.

The internet was quick to pick up on Sanders’ perceived discomfort, and rushed to quip about it.

While addressing the crowd, Clinton said the two have been working together in recent weeks and thanked him for running a passionate campaign, adding he has “energized and inspired a new generation”.

David Weiner has been a local voice supporting Sanders’ presidency.

“I’m not really thrilled with either one of them”, he said.

After an often bitter campaign, Sanders said he will do everything he can to make Clinton “the next president” of the US.

Expressing her joy at Sanders’ endorsement, Clinton said the election would be far more enjoyable now with her formal rival on her side. We stand together because we’re stronger together.

Trump, who has been trying to court Sanders supporters, wrote in a tweet that Sanders has “totally sold out to Crooked Hillary Clinton”.

“This election is about making sure that, at least for Democrats, making sure that Trump is not our next president”, Steirer said.

Hillary Clinton will meet with Senate Democrats at a policy luncheon Thursday on Capitol Hill, a Democratic source told CNN, part of her efforts to coalesce party support around her campaign. She called his endorsement of Hillary Clinton a smart political move on the brink of the Philadelphia convention. The billionaire real estate mogul then made a pitch to angry Sanders supporters, telling them that they are welcomed with “open arms” in the Trump campaign.
