Longtime political satirist Jon Stewart signed off last night after sixteen years hosting ‘The Daily Show, ‘ but Stewart had an interesting career in comedy before being offered the Comedy Central staple.

Even President Barack Obama tweeted: “You’ve been a great gift to the country”. 1 same-night score in adults 18-49 and 13.76 million viewers general, and Jay Leno’s remaining night time as host of NBC’s “Tonight Present” in February 2014 did a three.eight within the demo and 14.64 million complete viewers. However, he doesn’t believe Stewart had a massive impact in politics.

Stewart, who had repeatedly asked Colbert to not get all mushy on him before his speech, was visibly teary-eyed during Colbert’ tribute. Stewart has hosted the satirical news program for 16-plus years, having taken over the reins in January 1999. Financially, he is set for the rest of his life and then some.

He is being replaced by the South African comedian Trevor Noah. “That’s good for a “direct from the US” show!” “This is the most lovely place I’ve ever been”.

Video messages coming from US Secretary of State John Kerry and Republican Senator John McCain were also part of the grand finale, according to BBC. Above all, Stephen Colbert received the loudest applause, as they chanted, “Ste-phen!” The host emotionally thanked his wife and kids, refusing to look over in their direction, for teaching him what joy looks like.

The man who hosted The Daily Show before Stewart, Craig Kilborn, delivered a taped cameo, joking, “You’re finally getting cancelled, Jon. We’re merely taking a small pause in the conversation”. So rather than saying goodbye, or goodnight, I’m just gonna say: “I’m gonna go get a drink, and I’m sure I’ll see you guys before I leave”.
