Frank Grillo in talks for The Purge 3
Franchise creator James DeMonaco is writing and directing the third film in the series, which in the past, he revealed would actually be a prequel – tentatively titled The Purge: Origins. In The Purge: Anarchy, Grillo played a character credited as Sergeant – a man who has spent months entirely despondent due to the death of his young son.

2013’s The Purge could have been just another cut price horror flick from Blumhouse Productions (Paranormal Activity, Sinister) but it had a couple of things going for it – namely the presence of the ever-watchable Ethan Hawke and a great near future sci-fi premise.
The sequel also introduced an elite club of upper-class people who stage elaborate executions on Purge Night – essentially blending the idea of the Hunting Club from the Hostel films with the world of The Purge. We’ll get a look at how the event came into being and the beginnings of the resistance which also appeared in Anarchy.
The Purge 3 is coming to theaters next year on July 1st.
The news comes courtesy of Variety, the site confirming recent rumors that Grillo will be reprising the role of Sergeant in The Purge 3. More on it as we hear it…

There was a possibility that Frank Grillo’s commitment to the upcoming series Kingdom would interfere with his ability to be in The Purge 3, but insiders say that the scheduling has been worked out so that the actor can work on both projects.
