White Sox suspend Sale, then beat Tigers 4-3 on Eaton single

Sale was highly critical of team president Ken Williams’ decision to bar Adam LaRoche’s son from clubhouse; LaRoche chose to retire. “I just want him to pitch”.

The White Sox already were listening to trade offers for Sale, and FanRag Sports’ Jon Heyman reported earlier Saturday that the team wanted “five top prospects” in return.

The game resumed Sunday and the White Sox quickly ended it.

After Ventura walked Victor Martinez intentionally for the fourth time this series, Castellanos made the White Sox pay for the first time in the eighth.

Garcia led off the ninth with a single against Justin Wilson (2-3), stole second and scored from third on Eaton’s two-out single to left.

Tensions are running high with the White Sox because of the team dropping eight of nine games.

He was also suspended five games by Major League Baseball last season for his role in a brawl at Kansas City that started with a flare-up between teammate Adam Eaton and the Royals’ Yordano Ventura.

Cameron Maybin had two hits and scored two runs for Detroit.

Sanchez allowed four runs and 10 hits in six innings. He settled down after Eaton went deep, but his future in the rotation is uncertain with Daniel Norris (oblique) and Jordan Zimmerman (neck) working their way back from injuries.

The Tigers recalled right-handed pitcher Buck Farmer from Triple A Toledo and the White Sox brought up infielder Carlos Sanchez from Triple-A Charlotte.

The Tigers didn’t open their clubhouse or make manager Brad Ausmus available after the suspension. Starter Matt Boyd gave up three runs and five hits in 4 1/3 innings, and the Tigers came up short after getting a break by not facing the 14-game victor Sale. Both served as the 26th man. 2B Brett Lawrie (hamstring) missed his second straight game, but isn’t expected to go on the disabled list.
