Allyson Felix fails to make 200-meter team, can’t get Olympic double

“But when I look back and I see everything that happened I think it’s quite unbelievable I was able to make this team”, said Felix, who will be in the relay pool.
She did make the 400-meter lineup, and that is, indeed, quite an accomplishment considering the injury she suffered this spring.
Tori Bowie captured her first Olympic trials win on Sunday, when she finished in 22.25 in the women’s 200 meters final.
And so, she started slow, never made up ground against victor Tori Bowie or second-place Deajah Stevens and could not hold off Prandini, the former University of or star who had to wait about 30 seconds to see the result for third place go up on the board.
Sydney McLaughlin (left), the youngest athlete to ever qualify for the Olympics in the 400 metres hurdles, after the finish, with victor Muhammad (right) and runner-up Ashley Spencer. The concluding day of the American trials also produced the fastest 400 metres hurdles in the world this year, a run of 52.88 seconds by Dalilah Muhammad, and an upset in the men’s race as the 35-year-old Kerron Clement won in 48.50 seconds to make his third Olympic team. She’d just made some additional last-minute plans for her summer break-she’ll be making a trip to Rio de Jainero, Brazil.
Dalilah Muhammad was the easy victor in the race with her World-leading time of 52.88, while Ashley Spencer (54.02) and Sydney McLaughlin (54.15) rounded out the three Olympic qualifiers in the event. Merritt won gold medals in the 400 and 4×400 meter relay at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.
Besides Suhr, Morris and third-place finisher Alexis Weeks of Arkansas will represent the U.S.in the event in the Rio Games.
Sara Bei Hall, a former teammate of Conley at Montgomery, also was in the 5,000 final but couldn’t keep pace with the leaders and finished 14th in 15:54.99.
Her hopes of becoming only the third woman to win both the 400m and 200m at the same Olympics ended in an agonising defeat in the shorter race. She finished 11th in the 5,000 in 2012. She’s a former 10,000-meter national champion who was one of the pre-race favorites at the trials in that event.
Suhr’s coach and husband, FZ, 1,0,42 Rick Suhr, said he couldn’t think of any other pole vaulter off hand that had made the Olympics three times. Price’s fourth-place finish in the final was her second top-five performance of the Championships, after the Hillsborough, Calif., native registered a fifth-place effort in the final of the 400 one day earlier. Leonel Manzano, the silver medalist in the London Olympics, finished fourth and did not make the team.
Defending Olympic champion Gabby Douglas’ bid for a return to the games remains up in the air during the final night of the Olympic Trials.

The men’s relay pools grew by four names, all of whom have gathered worldwide hardware in relay events.
