“It’s what some people call surveillance capitalism”, the Oscar-winning director explained, adding “you’ll see a new form of, frankly, a robot society”.

The director – who made iconic films like Platoon, JFK and Scarface – said: “It’s not amusing”.
“Snowden”, which tells the story of NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden (played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt), will hit theaters on September 16.
Snowden now lives in Russian Federation, and Stone met with him a number of times in Moscow, trying to gain his trust and decide whether to take on the project.

“I spoke at length just about personal values and just what it meant to me with the things that were happening since 2013”, said Snowden. “Their smartphones, an essential tool for communicating with sources and the outside world-as well as for taking photos and authoring articles-are also the flawless tracking device”, co-designer Andrew “Bunnie” Huang, a well known hardware hacker, and Snowden said in the paper according to the Telegraph. Oliver Stone is certainly known for his controversial works, with one his most truth disputed film being JFK, as it dealt with the subject of the assassination of John F. Kennedy. Shailene Woodley plays Mills, who Stone said was unfairly treated in the press.
Out of necessity, the film takes some liberties with facts that aren’t in the public record yet, including the pivotal moment when Snowden smuggles the classified files out of the NSA.
Snowden still resides in Moscow, where he lives with his girlfriend, and revealed during the Q&A, “I actually live a relatively free life”.
“It was a good idea and we ran with it”, Stone said.
“We’re promised privacy in the Constitution, and if the government was going to change those rules, they have to be open about it”, Gordon-Levitt said.
