Released by Liverpool at the back end of last season after featuring in 26 matches for the club, Kolo Toure has signed for Scottish champions, Celtic.

Toure had a medical earlier in the day but is unlikely to fly out with his new Celtic team mates to Kazakhstan on Monday for the Champions League qualifier against Astana. And the Northern Irish manager admitted he is delighted to sign a player he describes as a “wonderful professional”.

Rodgers lured Toure to Anfield when in charge of Liverpool and expects the former Ivory Coast worldwide, who has penned a 12-month contract at Celtic, to make his presence felt at the club. He played in the Europa League final, and he was outstanding in the big games when I was there.

“Kolo is a brilliant addition and I am sure that he will be a big player for us”, he said.

The general consensus among Celtic supporters is that it’s a very positive signing and although Toure may have lost a yard or two of pace in recent seasons, he’ll bring a lot of experience to the team.

“I feel great”, he told the club’s official website.

I’m sure I’m not the only one that wondered what would happen to our dear Kolo.

“I have a few friends who play here and I know what the club has been achieving, winning a lot of trophies and playing Champions League football a lot, so that’s something I’m looking at”.

“I love the game and the only thing I know is hard work”.
