Thanking the people for their support in the wake of the PML-N achieving a majority win in Pakistan-administered Kashmir, Sharif lashed out at those engaging in “negative politics” against his party. It is high time that India allowed the people of Jammu & Kashmir to exercise this right through a free and fair United Nations supervised plebiscite.
Ten years ago, Pakistan and India stepped away from the abyss, after decades of warring over the territory, by deciding in principle to dissipate tensions and allowing the free movement of people and goods across the line of control.
In her statement, Sushma Swaraj said that Pakistan’s dirty money, risky terrorists and duplicitous state institutions sought to destabilise the region.
The Pakistan Prime Minister had earlier called Wani a martyr and accused India of human rights violations in the valley.
At the end of his visit, Singh said at a news conference Sunday that “Pakistan should change its in stance on Kashmir”. “That Wani was responsible for the murder of so many security and armed forces personnel?” she asked.
The External Affairs Minister said that a country which has used fighter planes and artillery against millions of its own people has no right whatsoever to point a finger against India’s fearless, professional and disciplined police and other security forces. Kashmir is an integral part ofIndia and will be till eternity, ” Mr Kharge said.
“There is extreme pain and anguish in Pakistan on the brutalities being committed against the unarmed and innocent Kashmiri people, who are only exercising their right to peaceful protest”.
Pakistan says it only provides diplomatic and moral support to rebels fighting Indian forces in Kashmir. “Talking about Kashmir’s accession with Pakistan is easy but nobody knows how it will happen”, the Daily Times said in an editorial referring to Sharif’s recent statement that Pakistan is waiting for the day when Kashmir becomes its part.
