Steven Kurlander: In defense of Debbie Wasserman Schultz
The e-mails exposed the Democratic National Convention’s (DNC) bias against Bernie Sanders.

PHILADELPHIA – Debbie Wasserman Schultz is resigning under pressure as Democratic Party chairwoman, a stunning leadership shakeup as party officials gather in Philadelphia to nominate Hillary Clinton.
“There’s simply no one better at taking the fight to the Republicans than Debbie-which is why I am glad that she has agreed to serve as honorary chair of my campaign’s 50-state program to gain ground and elect Democrats in every part of the country”, she said.
While she deserves thanks for her years of service, the party now needs new leadership that will open the doors of the party and welcome in working people and young people.
Asked if the move will bring unity to the party, Buckley told NH1 News “I think there were a lot of people who were arriving today that were very upset and this really allows us all to get together, be united, and support the Clinton-Kaine ticket”.
The protests come as Sanders called for the head of the DNC to step down after leaked emails suggested the party played favorites during the presidential primary.
On Sunday, Wasserman Schultz announced she would step down as DNC chairwoman at the end of the party’s convention, after some of the 19,000 emails, presumably stolen from the DNC by hackers, were posted to the website Wikileaks.
She will not have a speaking role at this week’s convention, according to several reports.
On the eve of the convention to nominate Hillary Clinton for the White House, lingering bitterness from the heated primary campaign erupted at the weekend.
Morelli also added that she wished something similar had happened in the wake of the Nevada state Democratic convention, where Sanders supporters alleged that state party Chairwoman Roberta Lange was biased toward Clinton.
Wasserman Schultz called the incident “serious”.

Wasserman Schultz’s abrupt departure was undoubtedly an effort to keep the Democrats’ gathering from devolving into the tumult that marred last week’s GOP meeting, when runner-up Ted Cruz pointedly and publicly refused to endorse nominee Donald Trump.
Bilbray said she thinks the resignation will help relieve some tensions at the convention, but she’s hoping even more relief will come Monday night when Sanders addresses the delegates.
Jeri Shepherd, a first-time delegate chosen by party leaders, said she doesn’t plan to pledge her support to Clinton. During an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper, Mook said that “experts” have said Russians coordinated the hack and release of DNC emails to help the Donald Trump campaign.
Wasserman Schultz reached her decision after a private meeting with advisers and Clinton’s senior aides at a Philadelphia hotel just hours before the convention was set to begin, the New York Times reported. “And I’m not going to engage in that kind of insult fest that he seems to thrive on”, Clinton said.
After the DNC released a slightly trimmed list of superdelegates – those are the party officials who can back any candidate – it now takes 2,382 delegates to formally clinch the nomination.
