A 25-year-old Israeli woman was allegedly gang-raped by the men that she hitchhiked a auto ride with, during the wee hours of Sunday, reports said. Two of them reportedly sexually assaulted her.

The woman was trying to reunite with her friends in Keylong when she boarded the auto, police said. The occupants assured her they would take her to Manali, where she could catch a taxi to Keylong. However, brutal sexual attacks against women and children continue to be reported across the country.

Medical examination of the victim has been conducted and the report has been sent to Mandi for expert opinion. The woman accompanied by her friend has lodged a complaint with Manali police station. “We are checking video footage. The Israeli embassy has been informed”, Mr Chand said. “Investigations are headed in the right direction”.

But rape and sexual assault remain commonplace, with incidents hitting the headlines on an nearly daily basis.
