Clinton and Kaine have first joint interview
As he accepted the Republican nomination, Trump said: “The legacy of Hillary Clinton is death, destruction, terrorism and weakness”.

“This is his ‘hood, this is Kaine country”, said Wolf.
Joining Ms Clinton at a rally in the battleground state of Florida, the bilingual Kaine peppered Spanish-language phrases into a speech focused on introducing himself to voters unfamiliar with the low-key USA senator from Virginia. Kaine is everything Trump and Pence are not. She leads Trump in many opinion polls.
Clinton told the battleground state audience that Kaine is “a progressive who likes to get things done”.
“I often feel like there’s the Hillary standard and then there’s the standard for everybody else”, said the Democratic presumptive nominee.
“I had no expectation about who would be the vice president because it didn’t mean much to me, ” Hulbert said. “Wonderful, very experienced, an innovator”, she said.
The Kaines had spent the day campaigning with the Democratic presidential candidate, who chose Kaine for the No. 2 spot on the Democratic ticket just 24 hours earlier.
“Tim has always had a good heart”, she said.
For a presidential candidate with the unique experience of helping conduct her husband’s 1992 search for a vice president along with eight years at the White House and another four years as President Barack Obama’s secretary of state, that kind of confidence mattered.
After speaking highly of the Trans-Pacific Partnership, a trade deal both Sanders and Warren have railed against, Kaine came out against the deal Saturday. Clinton reiterated that she set it up because “it was recommended that it would be convenient, and I thought it would be”.
Ms. Clinton’s choice may help her shore up support in the swing state of Virginia, but isn’t likely to put the purple state solidly in the blue category.
“I- I’m ready first to be a supportive vice president so that the presidency of Hillary Clinton is- is a fantastic one”, Kaine said.
“Got to have a fallback in my line of work”, Kaine retorted. We brought Bernie Sanders to this to this party, so to speak and we intend to be there, ” said Sanders delegate Donna Martin.
As Chuck Todd noted Sunday on Meet the Press, some Sanders supporters were disappointed by the pick, questioning Kaine’s progressive bona fides. They had been in Miami at midday for his first appearance with Clinton since joining her campaign.
