The sparks are already flying at the Republican National Convention.
The political event, which officially opens at the city’s Quicken Loans Arena on Monday (18Jul16) will see controversial billionaire Donald Trump anointed as the Republican candidate for November’s (16) presidential election.
“He has formed an alliance with Indiana Gov. Mike Pence”, Colbert said in his stentorian Games voice in a YouTube video posted on Sunday that had gained almost 500,000 views at press time.
While on location in Cleveland this week for The Late Show, Colbert made a decision to stop past the Republican National Convention.
Colbert then get’s dragged away – but it’s unclear if that was for real or for show. Colbert then grabbed a gavel as a security guard approached him to remove him from the stage.
We don’t know how much the RNC knew about Colbert’s stunt before it happened, but we do know it brought some well-needed entertainment and nostalgia for Colbert Report antics. The North Carolina delegation’s seats were near the bathrooms “so they can check everyone’s genitalia before they, you know, cast their ballots, shall we say”.
Colbert recently announced that Jon Stewart, friend and former Daily Show host, would join him for his coverage of the RNC this week.
