Jodie Foster wins ‘Conan’s’ young Han Solo auditions

Over 3,000 people auditioned for the role, and even though the studio eventually made a decision to go with the first person who auditioned (seriously, they spent six more months after Ehrenreich’s audition wasting 2,999 people’s time ), it’s always fun wondering what could have been. Watch the film’s Conan-verified audition tapes below. It’s in the same vein as Saturday Night Live’s Star Wars audition sketches.

Alden – who will take over the reigns of the iconic character from Harrison Ford – beat off competition from big Hollywood names including Miles Teller, Ansel Elgort, Dave Franco, Jack Reynor, Scott Eastwood and Taron Egerton.

In a clip TBS’ “Conan” aired this weekend, Melissa McCarthy, Bill Hader, Will Arnett, Jeff Goldblum, Adam Sandler, 50 Cent, Jodie Foster and “Silicon Valley’s” Thomas Middleditch and Kumail Nanjiani put on the famous smuggler’s vest and try to become a part of the franchise. His impressions of a young Chewbacca and Jabba the Hutt are a must-see! The screenplay was written by Lawrence Kasdan (The Empire Strikes Back, The Force Awakens) and his son Jon.

While not much is known about the plot, it is expected that the film will be titled Han Solo: A Star Wars Story and will hit cinemas on May 25, 2018.
