McIver, co-author of some of Donald Trump’s books, said she offered to resign but the Republican nominee for president refused to accept her resignation.

She continued, “I’ve never heard of an American leader, or at least somebody who wants to be an American leader, claiming that he’s all we need”.
He added: “Ted, just stay home, relax, enjoy yourself”.
Trump, speaking the end of a week dedicated to unifying the party, once again revived the conspiracy theory published in the National Enquirer that linked Cruz’s father to John F. Kennedy assassin Lee Harvey Oswald – an accusation that has no evidence behind it. “I think he’s a lovely guy, a lovely guy”. It was a suggestion Trump first floated during their heated primary battle – one that cause Cruz to explode in anger at the real-estate mogul at the time.
From Politifact: Donald Trump accepted the Republican Party’s nomination for president Thursday in Cleveland, vowing a law and order campaign that will “liberate our citizens from the crime and terrorism and lawlessness that threatens their communities.”…Some of his specific talking points were more accurate than others.
Trump said he reviewed a version of Cruz’s speech, which included no endorsement, but allowed him to take the stage anyway Wednesday night.
In a special UpFront, from the RNC, we speak to one of Trump’s top advisers, potential defense secretary Michael Flynn, about why he supports the candidate. Notice Trump didn’t say “Crooked Hillary”, and waved off the most popular chant of this convention: “Lock her up”. “There really wasn’t anything in the speech for me tonight that brought me on board”. To me, not signing a pledge is dishonorable, okay?

But Trump said that Cruz’s camp started it with an ad that ran in Utah showing racy photos of his wife, Melania Trump.
