Round Rock Police and Travis County Sheriff’s deputies are searching a southeast Round Rock neighborhood Monday morning after a deputy was found shot inside his home. The home was in Round Rock, about 15 miles north of Austin, and it was unclear if the deputy was on duty at the time of the shooting, the spokeswoman said. Earlier Monday, a TCSO spokesperson said the deputy had been injured, but would not report on his condition.
Round Rock Police are releasing very little about the incident except to tell area residents in the Cimarron neighborhood to stay inside their homes. The Travis County Sheriff’s Officer’s Association president confirmed to Plohetski the deputy died at Round Rock Medical Center.
People are advised to avoid the area while authorities investigate.

Police are expected to give an update on the investigation at 7 a.m. It will be updated as additional information becomes available.
