Claudio Ranieri: Leicester Are Crying Over N’Golo Kanté Sale

Following N’Golo Kante’s £30m move to Chelsea, Claudio Ranieri insisted earlier in the week that Mahrez was happy at Leicester City as he moved to allay fears of another key player leaving.

The club tried to cling on to Kante by offering him a better contract before Euro 2016 but could not stop him from penning a deal with the London club.

But Ranieri has said that there is no need for Leicester supporters to panic.

“Last season we lost Esteban Cambiasso and everybody was crying”, he told a news conference following Leicester’s victory over Celtic on penalties in the International Champions Cup.

Kante, who was Antonio Conte’s second summer arrival after completing a £30 million move from Premier League champions Leicester City, has linked up with the rest of the squad for their pre-season tour of the US. “Don’t worry. Football in Leicester will keep going”.

It is the second season in a row that Leicester have lost an influential midfielder after Esteban Cambiasso linked up with Olympiacos past year.

Leicester are gearing up for their title defence for the upcoming season, but will no doubt find retaining the Premier League trophy a tricky proposition, with Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola joining an already star-studded pack of managers in England’s top division.
