Fort Myers nightclub shooting: 2 dead, at least 14 others reportedly wounded

The night before the Orlando nightclub shooting, a man thought to be a deranged fan fatally shot Christina Grimmie, a rising singing star, while she was signing autographs after a concert in that city.

According to reports from Police the officials responded to the scene around 12:30 a.m. The same records also show that a complaint was filed in 2014 for “criminal activity” and that the club was given an official notice. It was not immediately clear what triggered the violence. Myers Interim Police Chief Dennis Eads to offer any assistance from the state.

Quoting a man who said one of his close friends was at the club when the shooting started, WINK relays he posted an account of the aftermath on Facebook. “We will continue to pray for the victims and their families”.

However, in a statement, Club Blu seemed to imply the shooter (s) were older than the attendees they wounded. Ages 12-17. There was armed security as well as full security, inside and out.

“We are deeply sorry for all involved”, the post read. Four victims are still being treated there, two of them in intensive care. The victims were as young as 12 years old, Cherly Garn of Lee Memorial Health System said.

At this time, investigators are still trying to determine a motive and are working to determine the identities of those deceased. All others were treated and released. One person suffered a minor injury, according to the police.

Two other crime scenes were also connected to the incident, where police said three people of interest have been detained.

The shooting happened six weeks after the Pulse nightclub shootings in Orlando, in which a gunman killed 49 people and injured 53 before he was shot and killed by police. The area around Club Blu is now considered to be safe, although roads leading toward the venue have been closed.

Mulligan told the station three people have been taken into custody and that there are two active crime scenes.
