Debate shatters Fox News ratings record

Donald Trump, by the way, has sought to reassure the voters by pointing out that he is too rich to be bought. He fielded questions about how Southern conservatives can connect with his boisterous Jersey personality and said that Americans from all regions care about a sound economy, national security and individual liberty. “That’s the only place he could get trumped by because they can’t be accused of bias”, he said. When he asked Trump’s campaign to clarify the comment, he told the press he wasn’t satisfied with their response. “Does that sound to you like the temperament of a man we should elect as president?”

Giving a glimpse into what happens behind the scenes at presidential debates, Trump, without naming names, said he “really did get to like” some of his nine fellow candidates on the stage.

“We’re going to look at that very carefully but I don’t recognize those words”, Trump said. “Blood coming out of her wherever”.

WERTHEIMER: So, Mr. Erickson, what’s been the reaction at your event to your decision to disinvite the Donald? That actually surprised me.

“I just don’t respect her as a journalist”, he said. They got the inflection of his voice – that they could hear it for themselves.

“Only Rosie O’Donnell”, Trump said of his previous disparaging comments, earning a laugh from the crowd.

He called Mr Erickson a “total loser”, and pointed out he had previously labelled First Lady Michelle Obama a “Marxist Harpy”.

WERTHEIMER: You had to apologize to former Justice David Souter.

“And honestly Megyn, if you don’t like it, I’m sorry”, Trump said.

“Trump behaved about the way everyone thought he would”.

“I think he confuses political correctness and common decency”, he said of Trump.

Republican presidential candidates are getting a second chance to make a good first impression with conservative activists after their inaugural televised debates had unheard of millions tuning in to see how they would play off each other.

On Friday morning RedState host Erick Erickson took the stage to explain his decision, saying he didn’t want his daughter to be in the same room with Trump. “I just think that’s crap”.

Megyn Kelly, one of the hosts of Thursday night’s debate, questioned him over his years of anti-women remarks. It’s just rude.

“You think that’s tough?” “How are you supposed to know?” He can answer for himself. The backlash to his exchange with Kelly has threatened to knock the wheels off the bandwagon of support that had Trump leading early polls in the race for the Republican nomination for the 2016 election.
