Detroit police and firefighters are doing their part to help residents beat the summer heat.
Monday stands apart from the rest of the heat this week because of higher humidity and the possibility for severe thunderstorms across Massachusetts, Rhode Island and much of CT.
The 22News Storm Team has declared Monday a Weather Alert Day due to the potential for risky heat and humidity and the possibility for some strong or severe thunderstorms later in the day. “Feels Like” temperatures could approach the upper 90s to around 100 tomorrow afternoon. But, if the skies remain cloudy, high swill only be in the 80s.
The abc27 forecast calls for the humidity to give way to more storm activity as a front passes through today.
With intense heat and high humidity, 80 sounds like a polar vortex compared to the past weekend.
The high at the airport hit 96 Saturday and 90 degrees on Sunday.
A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is expected. There still be enough heat to still support 90s and to continue the heat wave under the rays of a searing sun. It will also be enough heat to pass the mercury past 90 degrees and make the afternoon air oppressive.
The next chance for a few showers and thunderstorms will probably come Thursday and Friday afternoons.
