USA election: Bernie Sanders to urge Democratic Party unity
Races for most of those 35 seats are seen tilting or leaning more to one party, but 10 Republican seats and two Democrats seats are rated at “toss-ups”. Elizabeth Warren, D-Massachusetts, Sen. First lady Michelle Obama and Sanders will headline Monday’s opening night and will be followed later in the week by Bill Clinton, President Obama and Vice President Biden.

The kickoff lineup had always been meant to appeal to the party’s restive liberal wing, but that task has become unexpectedly urgent. “They’ve been, as in any primary process, buried in the back and forth” between Clinton and Sanders, Podhorzer said. The disclosure of e-mails indicating party officials tilting in Clinton’s favor over Senator Bernie Sanders in the primaries forced Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz to announce Sunday that she is stepping down as head of the DNC at the end of the convention. Clinton campaign officials pointed the finger for the hack at Russian military intelligence agencies.
“The new joke in town is that Russian Federation leaked the disastrous DNC emails, which should have never been written (stupid), because Putin likes me”, Trump wrote as part of a series of Tweets.
Republicans relished Democrats’ pre-convention tumult, just days after they bumped and bumbled through their convention, unsuccessfully trying to paper over their own division.
The Vermont senator will set out the case for her being a “far superior” candidate to Republican Donald Trump.
They chanted “Hell No, DNC, we won’t vote for Hillary” and “This is what democracy looks like”. “Out of that has sprung some, if not much of, Hillary’s commitment to children and what they are owed and deserved”, said Verveer.
Party officials are trying hard to salute Sanders and smooth the integration of his supporters into the fold. Clinton and President Barack Obama both quickly praised the departed party chief.
Their four-day affair began with drama on the convention floor, when anti-Trump delegates unsuccessfully sought to mount a last-ditch rebellion against Trump. Speaking of Trump and Clinton, she added, “They’re both evil”.
In return, Clinton seized upon what she called the “fear and the anger and the resentment” from Trump and Republicans, dismissing Trump’s declaration that only he could fix the problems that afflict the nation. Then, in an extraordinary scene Wednesday night, the convention hall broke out into jeers as former presidential candidate Ted Cruz refused to explicitly endorse Trump during his prime-time speech. The emails outline a lot of things including the party’s active attempts to discredit Bernie Sanders’ campaign, when they were supposed to be neutral.
Allen, who most recently served as America’s special envoy to the coalition fighting the Islamic State group, said Monday that he generally keeps out of politics but “given the complexities of issues facing our country today and its longtime allies, I felt compelled to speak up and be heard”. “I think it’s important to move forward”. Bernie Sanders, will have his moment, with his 1,900 delegates to cheer him on.
Sanders endorsed Clinton two weeks ago after pressing for the party platform to include a $15-an-hour minimum wage, debt-free college and an expansion of access to health care.

But in a clear sign that she is anxious about Sanders’ backers not rallying behind Clinton, Fudge told the delegates “we can’t govern if we can’t win”. Clinton has 2,814 when including superdelegates, according to an Associated Press count.
