Debbie Wasserman Schultz blasted by loud, angry crowd

“Shame. Shame. Shame”, the crowd yelled, holding signs that read “e-mails”, a reference to the WikiLeaks controversy that has engulfed Wasserman Schultz and the Democratic National Committee.

“The FBI is investigating a cyber intrusion involving the DNC and are working to determine the nature and scope of the matter”, officials said in a statement.

The FBI said it will “continue to investigate and hold accountable those who pose a threat in cyberspace”.

Up until Friday, the Democratic convention looked on track to be a more orderly affair than its game show-flavored Republican counterpart.

But, Wisniewski stressed, there’s only one path forward: The party has to unify and get behind presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, who beat Sanders in the party’s primary.

“The new joke in town is that Russian Federation leaked the disastrous DNC e-mails, which should never have been written (stupid), because Putin likes me”, he tweeted.

Trump is poking the bear here for a reason: He would love to see Sanders and his supporters lash out at Clinton and make a mess of the Democratic National Convention – much like his supporters did when they booed Wasserman Schultz loudly at a Florida delegation meeting on Monday morning. “I’m going to do everything I can to defeat him, to elect Hillary Clinton, and to keep focusing, keep focusing on the real issues facing the American people”. But they face lingering bitterness among supporters of defeated rival Bernie Sanders and a fresh political mess of the party’s own making.

Norman Solomon, coordinator of an independent network of Sanders delegates, said that Wasserman Schultz’s resignation doesn’t represent “her being tossed overboard by Hillary Clinton”, noting that she’ll have a role with the campaign.

It remains unclear if their prime-time speeches will convince disgruntled Sanders supporters to back Clinton in the general election. Trump declared on Twitter: “The Dems Convention is cracking up”. If that doesn’t happen, he said, there will be a push to withdraw Sanders supporters from the Democratic Party.

The convention could be contentious this evening on the night when Elizabeth Warren, Michelle Obama and Sanders are set to speak.

“We are leaving no voter untouched in this campaign”, Fallon said.

On Sunday, Clinton campaign manager Robby Mook said that it was “concerning last week that Donald Trump changed the Republican platform to become what some experts would regard as pro-Russian”.

DNC Vice Chair Donna Brazile, a veteran Democratic strategist who will lead the party on an interim basis after the convention, warned more leaked emails, and more apologies, could be coming. Security also escorted her out after she spoke, as U.S. News’ Dave Catanese reported.

“This is nothing new”, she said. His campaign helped approve a number of provisions in the party’s platform, from a $15 an hour federal minimum wage to an expansion of health care.

“But I think the vast majority understand what’s at stake and are going to be pragmatic about how this convention comes out”, Wisniewski added.

Sanders, for his part, has struck a positive message in recent interviews, expressing his support for Clinton and the need to project unity.
