Ranking GOP Illinois state lawmaker Ron Sandack resigns
In a surprising development, Illinois State Rep. Ron Sandack (R-Downers Grover) announced his immediate resignation Sunday in light of recent “cyber security issues” he has faced.

He then pivoted to talk about other priorities besides public service, like “being a father and husband” for his family.
Ron Sandack, the vocal floor leader for the GOP minority in the House, issued his resignation late Sunday, saying in a statement that he began to re-evaluate his role “after some cyber security issues arose”.
Sandack has used Facebook and Twitter accounts, but both appeared to have been taken down Monday morning.
The statement says Sandack’s resignation is effective Sunday. Sandack did not respond to request for comment on exactly what the cyber security issues were or why they would cause him to suddenly decide to quit.
Sandack, known as an adamant defender of Republican Governor Bruce Rauner’s initiatives on the floor of the Democratic-dominated House, was up for re-election in November against Democrat Greg Hose. “My duties in Springfield has meant missing a lot of events in the lives of my children”.

Sandack is a partner in a Chicago law firm. “I am no longer willing to miss important family events”, the statement continued. He was appointed in 2010 to the Illinois Senate to fill in for a senator who resigned, and went on to be elected as representative for his suburban Chicago district.
