Die-hard Sanders backers divided on backing Clinton
Under fire for emails showing rancor between the Democratic National Committee and the Bernie Sanders campaign, Debbie Wasserman Schultz is stepping down as party chairwoman, but will join Hillary Clinton’s campaign in a senior role.

The head of America’s Democratic Party resigned on Sunday amid a furore over embarrassing leaked emails, hoping to head off a growing rebellion by Bernie Sanders supporters on the eve of the convention to nominate Hillary Clinton for the White House.
If only Wasserman Schultz was as popular as McKinnon’s impression of her. Of course, unless the DNC steers directly into a glacier, it should still prove less disastrous than that dog and donkey show masquerading as the Republican National Convention. On Sunday, Clinton said in a statement that she was appointing Wasserman Schultz as “honorary chair of my campaign’s 50-state program”.
WikiLeaks said the new cache of emails came from the accounts of seven key figures in the DNC and warned that the release is “part one of our new Hillary Leaks series” – an indication that more material might become known soon.
Some revealed officials looking at ways to undermine Sanders’ campaign, including using his faith.
It comes just after the Republican convention that saw Donald Trump declared the Republican presidential nominee.
Bernie’s supporters instead shouted “We want Bernie” in a show of discord. He said it was imperative to elect Clinton and her running mate, Virginia Sen.
Bernie Sanders tried to calm tensions among his delegates Monday at the Democratic National Convention but some weren’t in a listening mood, seething over a lengthy primary campaign and a damaging email disclosure.
Protesters can be heard yelling, “you robbed us” and “shame” throughout her speech, while holding signs saying “Thanks for the help, Debbie” and “Emails”.
Her role has been dramatically reduced at this week’s Democratic Convention, but she will still open and close the four day long event being held in Philadelphia. No names were mentioned, but Sanders was the only Jewish candidate. “Michelle and I are grateful for her efforts, we know she will continue to serve our country as a member of Congress from Florida and she will always be our dear friend”. “My Southern Baptist peeps would draw a big difference between a Jew and an atheist”. “He is a very nice guy”, Sanders said on NBC’s Meet the Press. “Yes, I would have”, he said.
The statement from incoming interim party leader, Donna Brazile, and six other officials says the comments in the emails “do not reflect the values of the DNC or our steadfast commitment to neutrality during the nominating process”.

In terms of convention operations, the DNC Rules Committee tapped Ohio Rep. Marcia Fudge to fill in as permanent chair of the convention to gavel in and out each session, according to a DNC source.
