It also cast a shadow over preparations in Philadelphia for Clinton’s coronation as the nominee to face Trump in the November 8 presidential election.

The setting is a town hall event in Roanoke, Virginia. Other speakers included President Barack Obama’s wife, Michelle Obama. He says the first lady will give voice to the values and agenda that the Obama administration has pursued over the past seven years.

White House spokesman Josh Earnest says he’s confident the first lady will be warmly received at the Democratic National Convention.
