A Somali police official says a suicide bomber has detonated an explosives-laden auto outside the United Nations Mine Action Service offices in Mogadishu, killing three other people.

Two vehicles packed with explosives were detonated in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu near a base for African Union troops next to the main airport, according to local witnesses.
Bursts of gunfire were heard after the blasts, officer Hussein Daud said by phone from the scene.
According to Conflict News, two simultaneous suicide auto bombs targeted checkpoints manned by Somali security near the airport entrance.
The militants were chased out of Mogadishu in 2011 but remain a serious threat in both Somalia and neighbouring Kenya, where they carry out frequent attacks.
The first detonated a auto bomb laden with explosives and the second tried to storm the base on foot, but was shot and exploded at the gate, officers added.
