There seemed to be some himming and hawwing around on the part of Netflix regarding renewing the series with Sense8 fans having had to take to social networks to show their support for the series.

The streaming service shared the news on Twitter, with some familiar faces helping to spread the message.
The video landed on August 8, which in the show is when all “sensates” are born. There’s no information yet about when the second season of Sense8 will come out, or if it’ll be another 12 episodes, with the video only promising that it’s “coming soon”. Also starring are Daryl Hannah, Naveen Andrews, Terrence Mann, Freema Agyeman, Alfonso Herrera, Erendira Ibarra, Adam Shapiro, Ness Bautista and Joe Pantoliano. While Netflix nearly always grants its original shows second seasons, it wasn’t necessarily a given for Sense8 since this is considerably more niche than, say, House of Cards. “We look down the road and we say to ourselves, ‘Where is this going to go?’…”

The official renewal comes more than a week after Sense8’s panel at the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour where executive producer J. Michael Straczynski told the assembled gaggle of reporters that he was “cautiously optimistic” about a second season pick up.
