Baltimore Mayor, Stephanie Rawlings-Blake will gavel in this week’s Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.
There have been three acquittals and one hung jury in trials of police officers charged in the death of Gray, and it appears likely that Gray’s death was accidental, possibly the result of Gray’s thrashing around after being arrested. She’s set to step down from the party job after the convention. Rawlings-Blake is the secretary of the Democratic National Committee.
Meanwhile, Maryland delegates and other officials at the convention said they were happy to hear Sanders urge supporters earlier in the day to back Clinton at a time when the party needs to come together.
But Wasserman Schultz’s replacement has also faced her share of criticism from the Democratic Party’s progressive wing.
“Everyone here is hyped up”, she said. “Let’s work together, as Bernie and Sanders have”, and elect Clinton and Tim Kaine, he concluded. Speaking in Charlotte, N.C., on Monday, she dismissed the Trump campaign as divisive and negative, accusing Trump of spending all his time “trash-talking the United States”.

“We’re going to have a convention that highlights success stories”, she said. Politico was among a number of news organizations reporting that the Bernie Delegate Network here was considering a challenge to Clinton’s vice presidential nominee, Virginia Sen.
