‘Shame!’ Dems’ division roils party on Day 1 of convention
For Hillary Clinton, the presumptive presidential nominee, the convention will feel like a coronation.

Like Trump, Clinton has her faithful followers.
Sanders endorsed Clinton two weeks ago after pressing for the party platform to include a $15-an-hour minimum wage, debt-free college and an expansion of access to health care.
However, Clinton has had difficulty connecting with voters and overcoming her trustworthiness deficiency that has been well-documented in poll after poll – most recently this one from CBS News and the New York Times showing that 67 percent of voters did not find Clinton trustworthy (compared to 62 percent for her opponent, Donald Trump). She said then that her supporters hadn’t yet been able to “shatter that highest, hardest glass ceiling”.
“It will be the Donald versus the grown-up”.
The drawn-out primary campaign against Vermont Sen.
Chris Riker, a pro-Sanders delegate from Miami, said Florida delegates received an email that Wasserman Schultz would be speaking at the Monday breakfast. Bernie Sanders fans and other like-minded progressives!
Ahead of her speech, she secured endorsement of retired Gen. John Allen, former deputy commander of U. S. Central Command and a former commander of the International Security Assistance Force, overseeing North Atlantic Treaty Organisation troops in Afghanistan.
While Comey didn’t recommend criminal charges, he said Clinton was “extremely careless” while handling emails containing classified material. His comments reinforced voters’ doubts about Clinton’s honesty and gave new fuel for Trump’s “Cooked Hillary” line of attack.
“The FBI’s findings are a glaring indictment of Hillary Clinton’s complete lack of judgment, honesty and preparedness to be our next commander-in-chief”.
For her part, Clinton said she won’t respond in kind.
She said she asked Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, secretary of the DNC, to open the convention at 4 p.m. Monday. During much of that time, she’s been dogged by decades of ethics questions; Travel Gate, Whitewater, Vince Foster.
The email controversy raised new questions about Trump’s foreign policy views with regard to Russian Federation. “I certainly think she had a lot of good things she did for the party, and now we are going to be welcoming in a new interim chair”, said Bolton.
“I will literally boo anytime she’s involved in the convention because she shouldn’t be involved”, Riker added.
Fair or not, the email questions are sticking. “The contrast between Donald Trump’s convention where he “alone can fix it” versus Hillary Clinton’s convention is that we are stronger together”, the official said. Clinton has maintained a narrow lead over Trump in recent polling.
Mix that with an electorate that is evenly – and bitterly – divided over the job that President Obama has done, and it’s a pessimistic scenario for Hillary Clinton.
“We will see a reintroduction of her public persona and accomplishments as subtle ways to reassure voters”. There is absolutely no upside for the Democrats to get into details on the email scandal.
“Our convention will be unrecognizable to the one you are seeing play out this week”, she predicted, saying Democrats planned to send a more “positive” message than Trump, who repeatedly talked about “law and order.”
“This election and every election is about who will have the power to shape our children for the next four or eight years of their lives”, Mrs. Obama said on the opening night of the Democratic convention.
While the major parties have historically restrained themselves during the other party’s convention, Lupia said he expects “heavy counterprogramming from Trump” during the Democratic convention. Tim Kaine, a moderate Democrat from Virginia, as her running mate.
“Long-standing studies show that if you can get voters to listen to an unexpected source that they trust, they might consider it differently”, said Wright, a member of the White House Transition Project.
Clinton’s campaign hoped the nighttime line-up would overshadow a tumultuous start to the four-day convention. “When I have seen moments when she appears to let down this candidate persona and speak personally to people, she comes across very well”. It’s about the candidate who can motivate the most people to show up.

Wright agreed the conventions won’t have a long-term effect.
