The shooter has allegedly shot themselves after shooting the doctor inside the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin (University Hospital Steglitz).

A spokeswoman for the Benjamin Franklin campus of the Charite university hospital had no immediate comment.

“The doctor sustained a life-threatening injury and is now in intensive care”, Berlin police said on Twitter.

They said there was no sign of a link between the shooting and terrorism.

The shooter was a patient of the doctors, police said. An anti-terrorist unit is at the scene, and the main building has been evacuated, according to the Bild newspaper.

The hospital shooting follows four other attacks in Germany since July 18.
