Indiana GOP leaders nearing vote on Pence ballot replacement
The message was the latest in the flurry of behind-the-scenes lobbying since Pence withdrew from the governor’s race July 15 after the Republican Donald Trump plucked him to be his vice presidential running mate. Pence touted Indiana’s economic record in his speech. “Whatever we have been able to do in public service over these past 16 years, all is owed to the Republican Party of the State of in”. “It’s just a very proud moment for all of us that live in IN”. Dan Coats called a “grand slam home run” on the heels of U.S. Sen.

David Brog, a member of the board of directors at Christians United for Israel, which helped sponsor Pence’s visit to Israel, praised the IN governor as one of the Jewish state’s “most steadfast supporters”.
The Trump campaign did not release specific details about the campaign events with Pence.
“Eric is speaking directly on conversations he has had with the governor regarding Eric’s candidacy specifically”, Seat said.
“Trump choosing Pence as his running mate is, again, only doubling down to be the most divisive campaign in American history”, said Martin Garcia, director of campaigns for the Latino Victory Fund. “[Pence] will bring so much to the Republican Party and help turn it around for the better”.
He talked of his term as IN governor, saying of his home state, “We prove every day that we build an economy based on balanced budgets, good roads and health care”.
“I’m a major donor to (Pence’s) $7.1 million and I can assure you that if Mike does not use that money to support the party’s nominee, his major donors will go insane”, Hubbard said Sunday.
A Republican with knowledge of the campaign’s plans told The Associated Press on Monday that the IN governor plans a campaign stop IN the Waukesha area, a Republican stronghold IN the state.
Alternative delegate John Wineke of Tennessee said he didn’t know about Pence prior to last week, but he loved hearing him speak.
“[Holcomb] is very capable and he is the ideal guy”, McDaniel said.
Two candidates for governor have already asked McDaniel to support them in the race. Under state election law, Pence is not permitted to be on the ballots for both the gubernatorial and vice presidential races. IN election law does not allow a candidate to be on the ballot for governor and vice president, leaving an open spot.
But University of Indianapolis political scientist Laura Albright says the committee may veer away from the lieutenant governor in favor of a candidate with more statewide name recognition.
“That puts the committee in a little bit of a bind”, Helmke said. “And they’re all being bombarded”.
And Trump himself stepped on Pence’s show by giving an interview to The New York Times saying he might not defend the Baltic states if Russian Federation invaded, even though the United States has promised to defend them as members of North Atlantic Treaty Organisation. Melania Trump expressed her gratitude for everyone at the convention and urged the party as a whole to come together and support her husband.

“If it’s Brooks or Rokita, there are legislative records they cam look at”. Brooks handed out pamphlets to delegates Thursday morning in hopes of swaying their vote. “I will continue my efforts to demonstrate that to the committee”. The central committee is scheduled to make a decision Tuesday. Meanwhile, Pence said he has no plans to step down as governor.
