Donald Trump slams ‘ruined’ Ted Cruz

Declaring America in crisis, Donald Trump pledged to cheering Republicans and still-skeptical voters Thursday night that as president he will restore the safety they fear they’re losing, strictly curb immigration and save the nation from Hillary Clinton’s record of “death, destruction, terrorism and weakness”.

First, the Trump campaign worked behind the scenes to block a plank of the Republican platform calling for providing weapons to Ukraine to fight pro-Russian rebels.

Ivanka Trump was not pleased about Ted Cruz’s speech at the 2016 Republican National Convention on Wednesday, July 20, and the usually cool-headed entrepreneur let her feelings be known. Trump said Cruz had “ruined his political career”.

The Republican nominee said Heidi Cruz is a “terrific woman” and blamed the flap on the actions of a political action committee.

I have no idea which strategy is better, and I think there’s some risk to Clinton in getting caught in between them. Maybe there weren’t the stories of diaper changes and camping trips that other kids could tell about their dads, but even their accounts of working with Trump in his company were more insightful than we’d previously heard.

So here is something I never knew about Hillary Clinton: she’s decently amusing.

While the newly minted nominee said the GOP is behind him, his convention featured a noisy floor protest Monday by anti-Trump delegates over convention voting rules. Cruz’s non-endorsement speech sent delegates into a rage as they angrily booed him out of the arena.

And he connected his story of the past year with his promises: “Remember, all of the people telling you that you can’t have the country you want are the same people” who told you that Trump could never make it to this point. Even if you disagree, like I do, it was the most convincing defense of Trump’s readiness and ability to perform the job.

“I have seen this man up close”. He followed the compliment by adding that Cruz has “good intellect, but he doesn’t know how to use it”. “We had – now, probably you could trace it down with emails but they’re pretty smart, probably it’s just phone calls”. So he said we have nothing to do.

Cruz, in May, had denied that his father was in the photo. Here’s the tweet he RT’d with an unflattering picture of Heidi Cruz and the message “A picture is worth a thousand words”. They’re not saying, ‘Oh that wasn’t really my father.’ It was a little hard to do. I think he’s a lovely guy… As for Cruz’s father, Trump cited a National Enquirerstory linking Cruz’s father to Lee Harvey Oswald.

Cruz told the Texas delegation Thursday morning he won’t vote for Hillary Clinton, but isn’t promising a Trump endorsement either.

And what all these furious folks don’t understand is that, on issues ranging from trade and terrorism to crime, Trump will make their lives worse. Among my peer group, many young Republicans are still angry and unsupportive of Trump; older Republicans have entered the acceptance phase.
